Gauhati University Department of Business Administration, Guwahati was established in 1978. The department offers 2 year full time MBA degree course in 4 semester curriculum and also in order to promote excellence in management it has launched the PhD program in management since inception. The MBA program is under the full sponsorship of UGC and recognition of AICTE. The department is ranked best among those of the north east as per the quality of education imparted by the distinguished faculty with interdisciplinary background from the premier institutes of the country and even outside the country.
The objective of the institute is to cater to the rapidly growing needs for managerial manpower through provisions of well designed and well directed program of professional education. The mission of the institute is to develop in the students an analytical mind-set, in-depth professional knowledge, passion for achievement and a socially responsive outlook, which will ensure all round development of the nation.
